Default Another option

I stopped using my PNT bag which was heavy, always broke, and was not expandable.
Briggs and Riley bags are expensive but have a lifetime repair/ replacement.

Damn thing is too heavy (which i knew when I ordered it)...but sturdy. Do not get this unless it has a metal frame. the plastic ones do not last, and will cause you to get it fixed more often than the metal ones.

I think the better choice for me would have been the smaller PNT/LW bag along with the duffle that attaches to it...stopeoverstore had it some time ago as a combo deal for $279-$299 for both. That is a nice compromise.

Good luck.
Got to have side pockets.

PNT/Luggage Works metal bag has been very sturdy but is a little heavy. Thinking of going to a plastic one. All the other manufacturers that make lighter bags use plastic. Zippers are very good.

It may not last as long but the benefit to my shoulder and back will be worth it.

I had a plastic frame PNT 22" bag that lasted 11 years before the base cracked at the screw/bolt holes. Still usable in a pinch. I replaced it with the metal frame which is considerably heavier.

I have a 26" TravelPro. Big enough for a well planned 12 day trip. Small enough to fit in an overhead. VF Solutions sells them for a good price. My previous TravelPros have endured well.

Agreed. For those long international trips, I use the TravelPro due to the weight of a fully packed 26 PNT bag. That thing fully loaded will murder your shins not to mention your back. For domestic I just bought my second 22" PNT bag. I had the first one for almost 16 years and only had it rebuilt once.

Where's the best place to get the best price on a PNT bag?

What airlines allow a 26" carry on? I thought the max was 22 with maybe a 24 getting past them.

I've had the 22" LuggageWorks for almost 10 years now without a single problem. Meanwhile, my wife who travels 1/10th of the time I do, has gone through 2 roll-aboards from TravelPro. We had one of them replaced twice because of the handle system breaking down, then like the second one, it just frayed and was destroyed around corners and edges due to airline abuse.

I've seen my Purdy bag dropped from about 15', fully loaded, because of the gate-check policy for RJ's. It is still intact. It seems my bag has seen much more abuse from the airline gate-check or counter-check policy, compared to the cargo world version of self-checking our bags. What I like the most about the bag though is the single piece metal handle with the simple release mechanism. The more moving parts to the handle, the sooner you will need to replace your bag, IMO.

As to where to get it: the stopoverstore.com seems to have the best deals for airline crews.

- Minor Issue: After several years of use, the foam padding on the pull handle is in bad shape. The foam padding seems to get damaged a little each time I have to check my bag. Do any of you APC'ers know a contact to get replacement pull handle padding?
I buy the foam handle bar covers from bike shops , thicker and more comfortable.
