Default FedEx Trip Trade Blog Site "Triptrade.info"

Since "pilotswap.net" closed there has been no other venue other then what's on the ALPA site to post trip trades and other information. I noticed that traffic on the ALPA site is minimal. I suspect because people hate logging in to post.

Google offers a free blog site that essentially could work until a better one is implemented. The only drawback is post or comments cannot be deleted by the poster. So, I'll have to do a little work to delete post manually.

I'm asking people to visit the site to see if it is user friendly and acceptable to FedEx pilots. If I get positive feedback, I'll launch it ASAP. Please take a look and if you have time comment on the "Suggestions" link. Thank you.

What's wrong with using the Alpa site to trade? Kinda think that's why they put it there.

Probably because no one uses the ALPA site. I'm not sure why but it's a ghost town.

Guess I'm from the mind set that if it is broke how about trying to fix it before we just start diluting the mix. The Same guy that ran pilotswap is the guy that built the alpa trip trading section. I've used it and it is easy to use. I agree that the usage is low. I think that is in part that the give a $h1+ factor is low. When I mention using it to guys I fly with I get the RCA dog look because they don't know it exists.

I'm not against having another one but I gotta think that in this case the more doesn't necessarily mean it's for the better. If it is a better system then I'm all for it....just not sure that will mean higher usage.

Because in a word, the ALPA site sucks. It always has - remember when they tried to get conversations over to the ALPA site years ago off of APC and you found out you a) always had to log in and b) ALPA erased every message after 30 days?? The guy who ran the pilotswap is under the same constraints now. I like the format of this proposed site. It should be simple, easy to navigate to (why in the world would I want it password protected and multiple steps to view??) and user friendly.

PilotSwap was created because the company's antiquated green screen venue was not (and still is not) being updated or properly maintained (ref: CBA Sec 25.A.8).

The service was moved to the FDX ALPA website, in part, because of the belief that our trip swap information should be protected behind a firewall and not available for general public viewing/consumption/analysis. On the FDX ALPA site you can safely post your real name, email address and phone number without fear of it being harvested by some webcrawling spambot.

If you want to be informed of new posts without logging-in, just sign up for the RSS feed and then you only have to log-in when you see something of interest.

Good on you for working a solution but I think I'm going to stick with the ALPA site. It's pretty easy to go to Air Line Pilots Association, International. With 3 clicks I'm looking at trips for swap.

Is having to log into ALPA of value? One benefit is the likelihood of someone spoofing you is even lower.

Default RSS Feed question

FlybyKnite,

Is there anyway to filter the RSS feed so that we only will see the trips for our own fleet/seat?

Or, append each header with fleet/seat info as they are posted.

That way, you don't have to click and login just to find the trip is for a different fleet/seat.

Let me know if I'm missing something!

Thanks!

Nope, just a commuter that used the green screen, then pilotswap, now alpa to try and better my schedule even if it was or is antiquated. I think the overall alpa site leaves a lot to be desired but the trip trade page seems pretty simple to me. As stated, It is only a few keystrokes to get the info.

I do know that payment participation was very low for pilotswap.net. Pilots always wanting something for nothing. We pay dues so why not have some of it help fix what's wrong with the alpa trading page or get the company to set something up via our website.

If the new site can be easily navigated, have higher usage and free, I'm all for it. But, we shouldn't expect someone to run the page free and with our "open wallet" crew members, pay to play makes me think participation would be less than desirable. JMHO
