Just bought the Sennheiser HMEC-26BVK from SENNHEISER HMEC-26BVK - Pacific Coast Avionics but I should not have gone with the Stereo feature...don't need it, don't use it, but otherwise, it reduces fatigue on long-haul flights.

Good luck.

I bought a Bose but find myself leaving it at home as it takes up too much space when on a long trip.

Yup, I got my QC-15 for free but they take up too much space so I am waiting to move to the -400 or 777 and then splurge on the Telex 850s. I hope the Telex work as well as the Bose.

I'll cast my vote for the Q-15, although I'm not on the 747. I'm on her mighty, yet much smaller sister, the 727 (probably as loud or louder).

The Q15's are a great combination for using while flying the plane, and while commuting. I even use them for the walkaround. I also use them occasionally to watch a movie on the laptop while on the road. Battery life is excellent. Had the Bose X in a previous life, and they were great, but too much bulk for a jet, and not practical enough (only good for flying).

... ahh, the small things in life.

I've used the Telex Echelon 25XT for years, I liked the left/right volume adjustment to compensate for my hearing loss from my younger days. My vote for a passive head clamp would be DC's from Oregon Areo, loved their hush kits in my military days.
I've been using the Telex 850 ANR last month or so flying Part 135 jets... With the panel powered ANR, you lose this feature when on the O2 and flip the switch to the mask mike position. Part 135, one of us is on the bottle above FL350, since I'm junior boy, that normally means me.
I'm going to be swapping for the Bose A20 next week. Expensive, but I don't have much hearing left to lose before I would have to sport hearing aids... 1 expensive headset is still cheaper than medeocre hearing aids.

I had to use an intercom in helicopters. I then moved onto CRJs with hot mikes. Then I jumped to big Boeings and was disappointed that no one uses the intercom. I've kept my hearing and always pass the military flight medical because of my use of ear plugs. But I fear flying wide bodies will undo 24 years of hearing conservation.

I have found that guys not using intercom, like the plane I'm in, are yelling loud enough to be clearly heard with the QC-15's on. I can actually hear their yelling better with the headsets on compared to off.
