I agree ... I've flown with BM also. Seemed like a reasonable enough guy. I think we could do MUCH worse than him. I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt until he gives me reason not to.

Mayday,

I appreciate the sentiment you speak of in giving the new guy the benefit of the doubt. I kind of think it's too bad that someone comes in and the sense is that he's out to get us already because of whatever he's done in a former life. I understand the sentiment too. Hopefully, we'll all hold our fire and see what comes out of the initial transition period and let's hope for the best. That can't be a fun job.

I certainly am not holding what he did in a previous company position against him. I just think management's job is to get the most done in as economical manner as possible. The position and the accompanying paycheck are still management. The decisions are made above the SCP pay scale.

Anyone else think it was more than a coincidence the old guy is leaving a month after he flew a disputed pairing twice in a row and the pariing became undisputed? Just kidding. I am sure scheduling safety decisions are not scrutinized by management.

In regard to being "pro pilot" I know for a fact that he was one of the ones who pushed to make whole the guys who had been burned by the CDG Version 1 debacle. The company was under no contractual obligation to do that BTW. In my interactions with him he's always been fair and a big picture type.

FWIW I think he's good guy, and I think he really means it when he talks about reconnecting with the pilot group. At least he acknowledges that there has been a disconnect.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Little or no effect on my life. Keep my head down and hope the paychecks do not bounce. A job's a job and bosses will never change, triple seven cubicle commando's included.

Bad thing about anyone becoming the SCP... instantly 50% of the pilot force don't like him and the other half aren't sure what to think about him. I like the fact that Billy Mac has done a lot of jobs at FedEx and at the union. He's about as well rounded as anyone can possibly be. He's been a captain on every airplane we have (not sure about the the 727) and he has been everywhere and done about everything FedEx can throw at a pilot. You won't ever have a situation he won't be able to relate to.
I know him, and I am sure he will be a proponent for the pilots and the pilot group. If he can help you he will, and if you step on really bad ... well, at least he'll listen.

I just hope he gets a chance to do the job his way. I'm not sure why anyone would want the SCP job (too much bs), but I'm glad we finally have a qualified guy stepping up.

Time will tell.... good luck BM

I agree with you, RT. He was a 72 Skipper, I plumbed for him in the Bay.

I guess I'm Mr. Sour Grapes...I've never seen so many guys/gals on this forum be so supportive of a member of management. I'll hold my fire and take a wait and see attitude. For all of our sakes, I hope you are right in your opinions. Time will tell.
