It was an Elvis wig, and yes you can count it!

Don't know if that'll cut it. My buddy was riding jumpseat next to a FedEx new hire out of IAH the other night. He is a former astronaut who has 3 missions under his belt.

True story, but I keed! I'm sure you're competitive. Good luck.

I'd like to know what's so secret about "scorch".

Ha! Yeah they voted it down.

There was a JetBlue guy in class back in the summer. But he had KC-10 time as well.

Just the tip of the iceberg.

We have about another 6-9 months to get this right.

Hiring across the industry will greatly increase in late 2012/early 2013.
Don't understand the urgency. Why do they have to "get it right?" Are we having trouble filling the pool?

In the '90s I heard about a few strange hiring schemes. UAL hostile interview. DAL psych doc with rocking chair. FDX meet and greet, unless you knew someone in management. SWA hiring 20-30% of interviewed. The ironman physicals. Back then pilots went to multiple interviews and, for many, only one or two offered them a job. Not one stood out as offering a job to most of the highly qualified candidates I knew.

While it matters to us, hiring departments only see a problem when they can't fill the pool or training starts failing out newhires.

Back when I was hired at a major supplemental the VP of flight ops took me out to lunch and we talked about hookers and Irish bars around the world. I was offered the job on the spot! Flying ability was already known. Being able to spend 2-3 weeks together was known after lunch.

That is how an interview should be! None of this absolute ridiculous nonsense that plagues this industry today.

You could have made your point without slamming JetJam, who was simply providing the information requested by the originator of the thread.

Hey Guys. Just a quick question about the US residency requirement. I was furloughed and have been working overseas for the past 3 years. I have a home in the States and come back on rotation every few months. I am not eligible for a foreign tax exemption as I spend more than 30 days a year in the US. Am I disqualified?

Hi 4runner, I would think that you're OK.
