there was 5 of us that finished, 2, myself and another guy in my class are out on IOE. WE got seniority numbers from day one in indoc. I believe that there is one class behind us, but I don't think they had made it to sim yet.
There is something weird going on, this smells of a knee jerk reaction from previous, um, administration. JW told us in a meeting that it costs the company more to furlough guys, and risk losing those they spent money on training, then have to recert after recall. I don't believe that he made the decision to do the furlough.
the next few weeks will really tell the story as to what's really going on. for now, I continue to do my job and deal with the rest as it comes.
we'll either get through this, or we won't. I don't think there will be any middle ground going forward.

I certainly don't pretend to know the inner workings of EA..... but this seems to be a pattern with them... more so after the holidays....even in years past .... distant past..... they furloughed on a whim it seems. A good friend of mine here at K4 worked for them on the 747 and 727 as an FE back in the late 90s and was furloughed 3 or 4 times in like 5 years with the company.
I agree with your assessment about the cost's involved, its hard to know the reasonings sometimes.

"People(or Compaines) don't fail, they give up! You're on the road to success when you realize that failure is only a detour. The glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time you fall. Success is the proper utilisation of failure. If you've never failed you've never tried. Failure is not the worst thing in the world-the very worst is not to try".

In my limited experience really smooth landings or greasers are hard to come by on the classic. All the planets have to align so to speak. One of these landings it will all "snap" into place and you will wonder what all the fuss was about. Good Luck.

I had pretty good ones in ZSPD and RJGG, but my ANC landing wasnt as good. but I'm improving and see being able to critique myself. don't know if I'm gonna be able to fly again before the end of this rotation and the possible furlough. it's gonna suck to have to relearn stuff.

This was not JW's idea.. Classic flying is down next month. 1 plane is going away for good and 2 more going in for heavy checks. That leaves 4 classic A/C to crew and 3 -400's. The training on the 400 is backed up so lots of people waiting to start IOE.
