Evergreen

The pilots and flight engineers here with Evergreen are great people. Most people I fly with become my good friends. Yes we may not see eye to eye on all issues, but still are great people.
The pay scales do not reflect the quality and talent of the employees of Evergreen. Terms such as ND or other such words have no place in a professional environment such as Evergreen.
Most of the PFE's have left the airforce and range in age from 40-50 years old.

I'm not the one that used the derogatory term. I just know what it means. I don't agree with it. I worked at Evergreen in the 80's as a 72 and 74 FE. I'm a PFE and I don't particularly like the term but I have heard it. It's not directed at PFE's so much as pilots that have been forced out of the front seat and go back to the panel.
My time at the zone was from 84 to 88. I was stationed at SUU on the C-5 with your classic System Chief Pilot in the early 80's.

I have a couple questions. Are furloughs done by seniority, seniority in hardware or hardware? Do all that get furlough eventually get recalled? Do you reach a point where you wont get furloughed?
thanks

they're an ALPA carrier, so I imagine it's strictly seniority and the recalls are indefinite so long as the person hasn't gone on to another job (good luck in this economy).

When we were flying it we were doing 5 round trips a week. So it was easy to keep the planes flying out and back to SUU. Two flights a week with 2 planes does not work. But now the east caost flying has slowed down. So now we are screwed...
More efficient DOD flying? Atlas has always liked the European DOD flying because of the repetition and that leads to lower crew costs for the same money.
Atlas has picked up the SUU flying, two trips a week. It works because they are doing it with a -400 and heavy crew it, and then move the crews and use them elsewhere. I'm willing to bet, the bottom line is less in the end for the SUU flying.

Rumor has another massive round in Feb. Will have to check the bid packet when it comes out.
Based off rumors alone the most junior Captain will be a 1998 new hire. Most junior F/O will be a 2006-2007 new hire.
Hope the rumor is false.
