Any preferences on where to commute from? Or is it acceptable to be near an airport with commercial service? What about living abroad?

they can correct me if I"m wrong, but with evergreen, you just simply have to be in JFK at the start of your trip via Jumpseat... unlike Kalitta, Atlas and a whole host of others who will fly you to the start of your trip. I imagine they don't really care how close you live to an airport, so long as you get yourself there. I always found it odd that they don't have some form of home basing like World, Ryan, Atlas or Kalitta... I imagine it's possible in the next contract.

Which cities would be easiest to jumpseat from? Denver? ABQ? Those would be my first choices.

you're going to JFK.... they all stink equally... There are no non-stop DEN-JFK with UAL as far as I know, maybe check B6 and ABQ will also likely be a connection, but I don't know for a fact. Yeah, no home basing is a big minus for Evergreen, I can't understand it.

Once you get some value in your travel bank getting to JFK is not a problem. You simply buy tickets to and from work, accumulating FF miles as you go. If you extend beyond 16 days you will get a company paid ticket home. It's not home basing per se but YOU have total control of when and how you commute using the travel bank. The contract outfit that does our travel has come up some real doozies, connecting flights from hell, etc. Some of us prefer to have more control.

I havent deciding on if I want to stay here, or move back to Texas. I really like it here, but that little extra cash from not having to pay state income tax will help. Granted, I gotta get pulled from the pool first but its nice to be thinking ahead.

I suppose I have a considerable amount of time to make those decisions.

Cool

Thought they recalled all the guys from the last furlough on this thread. Is this a new round?

The EA recruiter mentioned several weeks ago that the recent interviews were for a planned upcomming class starting next year.......

For what it's worth, in my experience w EA, calls for classes, cancelled classes and furloughs always seem to happen on Tuesdays while flushing notifications seem to occur on Thursdays.

How long do the furloughs last? On average, how many return when recalled? Are the furloughs based on seniority (or lack thereof)?
