UPS Worldport expansion costs planes/jobs
At the UPS investor's conference yesterday, UPS Airlines president Mitch Nichols said that had UPS not expanded Worldport in SDF, and instead, expanded the regional sorts that the airline would have required 40% more aircraft to handle the current volume of packages. How many more crewmembers would 40%, mostly domestic, aircraft require?

Hope that helps.

With requirements like these:
UPS Flight Qualified Management Supervisor
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
FAA First Class Medical Certificate
Current ATP certificate
FCC restricted radiotelephone operator permit
Minimum of 1500 hours of total fixed-wing pilot time.
(UPS will allow military candidates to add a plus (.3) per sortie factor to flight times)
Minimum of 1000 hours pilot in command (PIC) hours in fixed-wing jet and/or fixed-wing multi-engine turboprop per FAR 1.1
Experience in one of the following: Airline/military or equivalent check airman/evaluator experience, airline/military or equivalent instructor experience, airline/military or equivalent management experience
I am sure you bring a wealth of knowledge with these skills! Cheaper I guess

No... An airline exists to provide career long employment to it's pilots, making the highest possible pay with a guaranteed retirement for life. While buying the latest and greatest in aircraft, that they currently don't need, just to keep up the the "airline Joneses".
At least that's what some on the cargo forum seen to think.
