Its something that I would be very concerned with over this job. I would seriously consider looking for another line of work if it does not happen. I believe if you were hired after 1997 and have a seniority number that you will have a good career at UPS but not a great one. 15+ years to make the upgrade? But you have an FQS with little to NO experience doing line checks and Captain pay on year 1? That makes sense. It's like making the FNG pilot in your unit the NATOPS or STAN Eval guy/gal. Makes sense right? As long as there is FQS wording in this next contract it will be NO for me. Otherwise there is not much of a future here!

Of course I believe something is going to happen next month that could make this issue, become a non-issue.

One thing is incorrect in your scenario: UPS never makes major announcements during Peak. If they make any announcement about FQS, it will be next year.

I beg to differ ...

Butt-kissing and assigning blame is a skill set ...

So.....why are you so sure about an announcement and what do you think the specifics will be?

From afar I see the possibility of a basic structural change in flight operations/training whereby FQS do both line check work and sim check work in the future.

Most FQS do one or the other; not both. Always been that way. A few do both airplane and sim.

That's been the dream for years. The problem is who owns who? The training manager and the standards manager both have work to be done. They'd be reluctant to give up manpower to help the other guy out. One solution: IPA check airmen!
