Sad word is EG isn't going to run, which bums me out more than it does you...he's hands down my first choice.

UPS has changed...even though they've always been a bunch of knee breaking thugs who have little more than resentment and hatred for pilots (and always will), their mindset was in the past geared toward growth of market share and profitability through market share growth, and of course cost management (this isn't the government after all). The new gang in town is ALL about cost management as a profit strategy. They no longer care about service failures beyond material for their Monday morning circle jerk/blame distribution meetings where each group flails knives in the other's back. They will cede all but the most profitable business to whoever and IMO may ultimately Gecko the whole thing. Back then, we could ultimately count on them meeting us somewhere near halfway as evidenced by our steady gains in virtually every arena. Regardless of all the doom and gloom, things are better here than anywhere other than Fed Ex, and next year we'll make more than they do even including their recent deal. Now, I see them going to the wall and despite having their best quarter in history WILL demand concessions with threat of all manner of mayhem and histrionics.
There are at least two on the current board who were tripping all over themselves leading up to the furlough to give the company whatever they wanted...whatever they wanted. This kind of Chamberlain-like approach will only embolden the gang in ATL and they will shred us and come back for more until there's nothing left.
Both these two are not ready for prime time, and never will be. They have laid back in the wings with their hands in their pockets, keeping their heads down on the really tough issues...venturing little but taking credit for all.
They need to run for Congress and let some new talent like EG and at least one who hasn't announced yet actually do some heavy lifting. Things on that front are in flux, and we may be hearing something sooner than later.

Of course that's who I'm referring to. Both are out of touch with line flying, are deep fried in intra-office politics, have pulled sleazy campaign stunts and are career politicians fond of their own voices.
