I plan and hope to retire at age 60 despite my experience at "a once great airline." I'm also one of those guys that won't max out my FedEx A fund 50% benefit. That's OK with with me. I'd appreciate if you don't mess with my retirement plans ...

Maybe you could volunteer at a local aviation college and enlighten all those young minds if you don't have any hobbies that might keep you busy in retirement?

Mark, I could retire today. I have planned and done quite well. Now if you want to retire at age 60 go right ahead. Consider age 55 if your not happy or not up to the job. Best of luck with your plans.

I don't know if has been mentioned, but Fedex has a mandatory age 60 retirement company wide. If they have not raised the age to 65 for the rest of the company, what makes you think they will for us if the law changes?

From my understanding, the company isn't going to fight us on this issue if the law changes.

Bullet,

Mandatory for who? There are lots of non-flying middle managers I know over 60. Just curious. Thanks

I think may confuse the normal retirement age with a mandatory retirement age. I believe age 60 is the normal retirement age for all at FedEx and all the pension plans. Age 60 is mandatory only for Captains and F/Os in the FAR121 operation. In the contract there is no such thing as a mandatory retirement age, but it does refer to the "Regulated" age. Today that happens to be age 60, next year it may be age 65, ten years from now it may be the same as Canada, New Zealand, and Australia where there is no max age.

The rest of the company can retire at age 60 because the pilots were regulated at 60. I think it's been that way for ages.

Past...

Jeez, they have had no age limit for years with no problems. They seem to have a better record than some FAR121 carriers.

The rest of the non-flying folks don't want the age raised 'cause they would then have to go to 65 before they could retire. It's that "we're all the same here at Fedex" policy.

Bad choice of words......I should have said not mandatory to go to 65 to be fully vested.
