Default How do you occupy your time?

With the A/P engaged and no passengers to complain about chop, how do you cargo guys spend your time (or have seen guys doing)? I'd imagine with long haul and back of the clock flying it'd be hard not to get either extremely bored or want to "check out the overhead panel".

think about how great it is to not have a door locking me in...also run around and dig, it's nice to be able to get up whenever I want...

I can tell you one thing we don't do -

We don't scramble to find a better altitude when we get a few bumps. We just put a lid on the coffee.

I alternate scanning the flight instruments and system instruments with the F/O. When I'm vigorously scanning one set, he/she scans the other. Switching like that really helps break the stress.

It gets really hairy though, when one of us tries to eat. With the other guy wearing that mask, it gets quite noisy.

Default Water or Sand?

I was wondering the same thing after the Guam thread appeared. Although looking out the front is great, which is worse - barren desert (like DFW->SAN), or open ocean? Night has to be dullsville, even though the airplane DOES make different noises at night

At night I spend my time monitoring all the black helicopters that are following me....
