Tanker,
I had my actual landings from old UPT (t-37,t-38, t-1)records so I just put those in there for those acft. For the others I did a mental wag and was ultra conservative: I at least stayed current so X number of landings per month for currency x 12 months x 20 years. I also made sure I put a note on that line explaining that the mil system doesn't track landings and that the actual number was WELL ABOVE what I had entered on the form.

I don't know if I lost any points for having a low number, but I figured if there was any question in an interview, it was obvious that I was honest on the app and I could easily explain the situation.

If anyone else has any other recommendation/justification, I'd be interested to know....

Cheers!

I would agree that your strategy is a sound one. Did you get hired?

This is why you should keep a log book of your own if you have any plans to ever fly for an airline. I kept my log book for 20 years in the military and the nearly 10 years at FedEx. Its not that difficult to do and it comes in very handy when you need to figure out if you can write a letter of rec for somebody.

Keeping a logbook goes way beyond the value of preparing for applications. I've posted on this here before, but in addition to the fodder for many good stories its a treasure chest of great memories you will have for the rest of your life.

Like planting a tree, there are two good times to start a logbook: Twenty years ago and today. It is one of those "better late than never..." actions. I won't be too repetitive, but my log is filled with a lot of great memories with friends and squadron mates (some who have flown west...), and since I don't keep a diary is a great look back at life.

The latest (overdue!) entry will be an approach to 13L at JFK at mins that I got to fly all the way down as weather called it much better than it was (thus negating the requirement for a monitored approach). First look at that approach--ever--and what a fun way to see it for real. Lot of fun, smiles, and lessons learned in those logs when you look back... If you are late to the game--so what--you've got more adventures ahead. Start the log now...

Well said Albie. Hope all is well at ECIC. I'll be in touch soon for a refresher when I have some time.

Best Regards,

Timmy
