Default Benifits/schedules

I have a couple questions about how cargo companies such as UPS or fedex run things?

Are you able to hop on a jumpseat and fly for free with your company when you aren't working the same way you can on an airline?If so, Can you bring your family or any non-related guest?

How do the schedules work? I know at the beginning there are a lot of night hauls, but how many does on do you usually work until you have time off?

Yes, No

2 to 3 legs a night domestic on average, 12 to 14 nights a month, usually in blocks of 4 or 5 days in a row.

Don't ask about UPS here because all you will get is "this place sucks", "stay away from here", "it's the worst place to work" blah blah blah

Out of curiosity, what sort of reaction do you get from non-pilot types when you tell them you work for UPS ?



I love when I am talking to someone I have never met before, and somehow mention that I work for UPS and they roll their eyes in disgust. It usually means that they have worked for UPS previously, or that they have a family member that did. Then they go on to say how they disliked it so they left. I generally avoid mentioning what I do here anyway. But that just goes to show you that pilots aren't given special nasty treatment, it tends to be a company wide problem. FWIW ...

The JS privileges aren't so good if you were hired any time after May of 2007 but the schedules for us bottom 109 guys, now they are hard to beat! That should about sum up UPS for you.

1. I don't get any reaction....noone that I know seems to know much about UPS.

2. I realized it was company wide when I took my package car ride on the
2nd day of new hire class and talked with the driver...LOL!
