Brown....
I know some ups guys have had the lasik done for far vision with both eyes and seem happy. There is a procedure that does one eye for far and another one for near. That sounds risky for me...I'll just go for the specs for reading the jepps (and the paper) till I no longer depend on my eyes for my livelihood. Seems the safer alternative.

Eye Care
I had CK (Conductive Kerotoplasty) surgery AFTER I retired. The procedure is done to the non-dominant eye in an attempt to 'blend' your eyesight. This is done for farsighted patients in an attempt to rid oneself of reading glasses. The success rate has been very good generally, but not good for me. The CK eye came out 20/20 after the procedure, but my dominant eye is so strong it does not allow a 'blending,' that is, I still see a difference when looking at objects far and near. If the procedure had worked, all objects far or near would appear clear and no glasses would be needed. My wife had Lasik several years ago and has had great success with that (sees 20/20 from wearing extremely strong near sighted contacts). Check the FAA website for information on eye procedures BEFORE you have anything done to your vision. You could lose your medical for a long period of time if elective surgery fails. That's why I waited until retirement. You take a chance with any procedure; I would strongly recommend sticking with glasses while actively flying. I took a chance after years of research and it didn't work for me. That doesn't mean it won't work for you.

Lasik
I had Lasik 5 years ago...20/20 w/out any significant side-effects. I'm a young guy though...had it done when I was 25. Incidentally, I wouldn't have done it if the military wasn't having a "special" on it!!
