From an outsider (wanting to be inside) can someone shed some light on why there are openings in ANC? It would seem a better proposition than HKG or CGN. From other posts I gather the ANC commute is difficult - maybe not so much fun to reside in winter - cost of living a little high? Just curious...would love to try it out

Now youve done it, expect 7 pages from the anchorage guys telling us why anchorage sucks and no one should go there.

Anyone currently on the property that wants to be in a widebody in the lower 48 can. Since most crewmembers live in the lower 48, MEM or LAX is easier. ANC will get filled again once the lower 48 seats get filled.

From the looks of it ANC will get filled first, with new hires.

Don't know how to quote from one thread to the other, but this needs a bump.

Per our contract, Mgt cannot put New hires directly into a Seat unless that seat has Vacancies. Actually they can, but it would cost them Passover Pay.

As of the last several Bids, there are vacancies in the FO seat in HKG, ANC and CGN. If they want to put new Hires into the Wide FO seat in MEM they either have to accept large amounts of Passover pay that would most likely generate,
or Post another Bid with vacancies and let the chips fall where they may.

After a bid closes, if there are still vacancies, the Company can fill any of those vacancies with new hires if they choose (Capt seats too), without incurring Passover obligation.

I thought the FO seat in the MEM MD had a bunch of vacancies after the last bid?

When they get closer to when those "vacancies" should go to training I predict another bid in an attempt to fill them with current NB crewmembers.

Perhaps an excess out of the 727 will fill them.

Seems like there could be an excess on the 727 given the dropoff in operational aircraft from now to May 2012. But I have heard not one peep about an excess in the 72, so.....
