Default FDX: Approved DH travel bank vs authorized

Sorry for the contract question but I've tried scheduling and Global travel and neither could help. So until Mon when I could try an ACP I thought I'd see if anyone knows.

I have a scheduled two leg DH to Spain. I am booked Business to Europe on the first leg and the second leg (same day), is on an RJ no Business class. There is business class available from start point "A" to end point "C" but not through the same connecting city. Two questions. First, contract says that I'll be booked in Business unless it does not exist for that "flight". Does "flight" mean from point A to C or is the company safe because it does not exist from point B to C not to book me? Second question is similar, since Business does exist connecting through another hub am I entitled to business class bank for that flight? (one of those italicized paragraphs in 8.A.4).

If either of these questions would seem to be in my favor, who do I address my concerns with? How do I generate a letter stating my "new" bank for that trip? Or, how do I get them to rebook me through a main hub on business? Do I have to involve the union or is this an ACP thing?

You can request through your ACP that the trip be revised. More than likely there is not a legal option in that time period (under 16 hours duty). The Company only "applies" class of service rules AFTER the flight is selected. If the flight does not have the required class then they book you coach, if it has the class but it is not open they booked you coach with standby for the higher class.

Banks are tricky, you can't establish a higher bank if the class of ticket does not exist on THAT flight. In the second situation above, if booked in coach due to availability but on standby for higher class then your bank would reflect the higher class. Your ticket is priced as a business class, just because the RJ is on the short leg in EU the actual ticket is largely a business class priced ticket, so I would expect that the other airline with actual business on both legs would be not much different (you can have corp travel price it BTW) secondly the other airline and connection city is probably not a legal connection (duty more than 16).

The approved vs. authorized is simple. Approved is the accepted fare, authorized is the actual ticket price (if higher) when you go scheduled so that the system does not make you owe money when traveling scheduled when filing your report if the actual ticket is issued at a rate higher than the accepted fare.

On duty greater than 16 for a deadhead that gets to another whole level of confusion. I would call your ACP and involve the SIG Deadhead Committee to see if they have any suggestions. You can deviate and take business through that other hub obviously, but are stuck with the accepted fare unless you get them to revise the pairing. Good luck.
