Default FDX-MEM MD11 open time ASBY JULY 5/6

Does anybody know a reason for scheds putting 20+ Airport standbys on July 5 and 6?

So no one can drop any trips due to insufficient reserves.

So, if we got 20 guys per seat per day to pick up these trips, would anybody have to answer for it or at least slow the harassment?

I don't think they plan on filling all of them, or even think all of them will be picked up. It's the same thing when they make up those hotel standby pairings. They drop them in to see if anyone bites. If not, oh well, it goes unassigned and the trip pairing mysteriously disappears.

The company can't deny someone picking these up for makeup.

So, here's an easy 4:47 - literally dozing for $$$ (do the math)

What're the odds of getting launched if these ASBY's are just being put in there to block trades and R-Day moves?

Besides, on the 5th & 6th all the fireworks & festivities are over anyway?

Low-hanging fruit ripe for the picking for you MEM Bubbas who live locally to pick up - worth the roll of the dice in my estimation.

Not to mention - add all these up (Capt & FO) and if they were all picked up for M/U, how much would the company have spent just to block trades/moves? mucho $$$

Make 'em pay & they might think twice next time (or not)

my 2 cents

I suspect there wouldn't be enough sleep rooms if all those pilots on an airport period tried to get one? Or if there were, there wouldn't be enough rooms for hub turning pilots (great idea huh?).

We know there aren't that many spare airplanes so what is the point of this sillyness?

There must be sick drops on those days but not that many. Easy.

Don't put your mad before your money. We should pick all of them up before they get pulled. Yes, they do that.

Currently 21 stby periods in open time along with 4 trips for tomorrow. Showing 15 reserves.( I know they say this is not accurate but it should be somewhat close.) So 25 trips avail with 15 reserves, AVA denied for "sufficient reserves". YGBSM! If they want to cram the day full so it limits our options, they should have to pay for it.
