Default Interesting differences in shipping times

I found this interesting.

I ordered a new computer (27" iMac), a new 4Tb Raid 2 Hard-drive and some software. All were ordered on a Tuesday, in the afternoon Alaska time (not necessarily the same Tuesday, but still.)

The computer was shipped via FedEx and arrived the next Thursday AM. Excellent, considering I live in Alaska. Well done Purple. Yea me/us.

The Hard-drive was shipped via UPS and also arrived the next Thursday AM. Outstanding. Well done Brown.

The software was shipped via DHL / USPS. On Thursday, Late PM, it is still at the main facility, awaiting pickup, with a notice that due to Labor strife in Canada it may be awhile before it is delivered. Sigh.

I think this illustrates why DHL and the USPS are getting their a**es kicked by FedEx and UPS. Just saying.

iPad came from china, showed up in 2 days.

cable came from Asia as well (on UPS), showed up later the same afternoon.

case came from California, via DHL, and took over a week...

On a different note. I ordered a book for my daughter in college. I ordered an "international edition" as I was told that the only difference is the front cover, but it was half of the price. I paid to have it shipped 7 day ground because we were not in a hurry. Total shipping cost $2.95 and it was shipped from Bangkok to Memphis by DHL. It arrived a day and a half after I ordered it.

7 day ground from Asia? And, it only took a day and a half? Who knew that there were roads under those melting icecaps?

Yeah, that was part of the irony.
