You are under no obligation to answer the phone after 1200 on RA and after midnight on RB (and as applicable for A+, B+ and 24) but if you do, you can be on the hook if they give you late call out parking.

I agree... if I keep dropping trips like this I won't be able to talk about my boat, my second and third homes, and my Harleys.

Default Read your contract

I can't believe how many crew members fail to read or understand THIER contract. The notification period is from 1200 to 1200, your actual duty period is from 0130 to 0130. You are required to answer your phone at noon, not required after midnight (for RB). Read the contract and don't go by what you read here. Contract will stand up in ACP's office. APC treads don't.

Reread above, I believe everyone has used the word AFTER, ie. not required AFTER noon (RA) or AFTER midnight (RB).

But you are correct Contract stands, and since my advice complies with the Contract, it'll stand too!

Notification
A pilot shall be available for notification of an assignment throughout his notification window. During his notification window, a pilot shall either answer calls placed by CRS or return those calls within 15 minutes.
A pilot’s notification window shall begin:
(a) 1:30 hours prior to his RP for an R-1.5.
(b) 3 hours prior to his RP for an R-3.
(c) 24 hours prior to his RP for an R-24.
A pilot’s notification window shall end:
(a) 1:30 hours prior to the end of his RP for an R-1.5.
(b) 3 hours prior to the end of his RP for an R-3.
(c) 24 hours prior to the end of his RP for an R-24.

When the window closes, you don't have to be available to CRS. For R 1.5, that is 1.5 hours prior to the end of your RP. No mention here about an exception due to short call parking lot access.

Ah yes, but did you click the little "open book" icon right next to that section of the contract (Letters of Agreement, FCIF's, Q & A's)?

Here, let me help:

https://pilot.fedex.com/contract/cba/fcif/99-050.shtml

Contract Administration FCIF 99-050

Date: April 13, 1999 To: FCIF-G-Admin From: FCIF/ADMIN Subject: RESERVE STATUS
FCIF: 99-050 ISSUE DATE: 4/13/99 SUSPENSE: 05/31/99 APPROVED BY: Scott Sanwick SOURCE: Denis Bonderud
Beginning with the May [1999] bid period, Reserve Availability in MEM and SFS will be R-1.5. However, an R-1.5 pilot may be given a 1 hour notice prior to showtime if there is no airport standby pilot who could be given the assignment, and the pilot is given late call parking. Reserve Availability in ANC will continue to be R-3. Please refer to the pilot contract Section 25.M.3.

System Chief Pilot

So, if you happen to answer the phone between 1200-1230 or 0000-0030, expect to be assigned with late call parking.

If you answer during those periods, then you deserve to be screwed.

CRS could call you at 2:34 in any afternoon and offer you a trip a late call access. The point here is when are you required to be available for Reserve Notification. As you suggested, the contract has the verbiage. In this singular case, it does not appear to be vague. As to how this might frame the discussion with your ACP, I think calls outside the RP Notification window would be a reasonable arguement to offer. As Dirty Harry once asked, "Do you feel lucky today?"
