Sounds about right from what all the managers have been saying.

Next system-wide vacancy bid in spring/early summer of 2012??
You guys arent counting right there are around a 100 MD-11 MEM not filled. Seems like the number is in the four hundreds. Remember to count the last ten percent, ie I think your airbus number is wrong also.

Viper,
New to the game ... if there is a vacancy, does that mean a company pilot is paid overtime to fill the line until it is filled with a new hire?

The vacancies aren't vacant, yet. Many will become vacant by guys going to a different seat/airplane. Or, the planned growth in the future.

Hope that helps,

Non-Viper

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The company can offer to buy back vacations, offer draft trips (x1.5), offer advance volunteer (x1.5, or just allow many trips to sit in open time at straight time - but still extra over your BLG.

And as Busboy said, some vacancies aren't vacant yet.

Viper, those numbers are from the vacancies listed in the posting that remain unfilled on the practice bid.

Not sure the percentage lists represent actual seats that will get filled. If so, there will be a need for more hiring.

Anyone know when the new crew rest rules take effect and where to find the latest version?

Congress mandated that FAA issue new rules by 01 August. There is no such thing as a "latest version", just the NPRM issued for comment last year and whatever comes out this Summer. Expected implementation time is 18-24 months after issuance to allow companies to prepare, reprogram, etc. Of course industry has signalled it's intent to fight the rules in court as well, so implementation may be further delayed or never happen at all.

Unless, of course, Congress just short cuts it like they did with age 65...

And we voted for a new contract based upon that scenario that deliberately left work rules, scheduling parameters and other ancillary issues unrepaired in exchange for a few great deals for the company.

Brilliant!

Default HK RCT pay -10 days at 4.5 per day-Great Deal

Was looking through the details from HK info on the PFC website and came across what appears to be just another good deal.

If I'm wrong, correct me...but this is a stinker...RCT for your 3 day event is a 10 day event. That is okay, build the pairing to and from Memphis, etc, however, you are paid at 4.5 a day.

Combine that with the way our lines are and if you have to drop a block of Rdays, you could be facing a pretty big loss of cash.

The loss of the cash for dropped days during your training month is a big stinker in this current contract. Small paycheck for that month, and then you get paid for your training the next month, but at a reduced amount.

Yeah, I know, you can pick up trips before everyone else, but then you end up work every day that month...(oh, that is if your senior enough to get the trips)

Am I seeing this correctly?
