UPS is a much better place to work that FedEx. At least that is what the two new former UPS guys that started at FedEx this year told me...

I expect several more to follow...

"It's not all about the cash"....more money= affording to spend more time at home

...someone just posted that you can't trade down. Is this true, you can't drop or trade down trips at UPS or is this just a temporary thing because of a shortage or something else???

I posted that. Its because they don't let you. You can trade down if they approve it. In twenty years I have never had one approved, at least not to go below 75 in 28 days.
We tried to do reduced lines to keep people from being put on the street and the company rejected it and put people out the door instead. Many pilots signed up for reduced flying and job share and personal leave , UPS decided it was better just to do it the old fashioned way.
There is no provision to "drop" a trip.

You continuously ignore those comments, while still professing your love and admiration for Big Brown. I'm frankly starting to wonder if you're not a UPS management guy out for a fun time. Either that or you're just a very slow learner and someone who always knows best. Either way, good luck in your career. I have a feeling that you're going to need it.

FedEx = An Airline that just happens to also have trucks

UPS = A trucking company that just happens to have a few airplanes

Are you an Airline Plot or a Truck Driver?

Do you want to be treated as such?

I agree with all of the gripes, but I think many of us are "too deep in the forest to see the trees" at brown. Afro is right. At the end of the day, it DOES come down to pay.

Im a UPS guy who would be coming up to my 4 year anniversary in a couple months. Instead I'm unemployed, stuck in Alaska andam having a heck of a time trying to find gainful employment.
As far as money goes, I have never had a full years pay here. My first year probation, my second RDG, my third, FURLOUGH.
I guess its not always Unicorns and Rainbows.

UPS is much better. They allow our junior pilots to take unlimited vacations that have lasted a year or more.

And believe it or not, after 21 years here at the brown paradise, I would leave in a heartbeat if FDX or Cathay, or Cargolux or possibly a few others would hire me. I am NOT kidding you. I am flying worse schedules here than I was 20 years ago. It gets really, really old. I'm far too old now for them to hire me, but I would gladly take a pay cut not to have to put up with this acrimonious environment the rest of my career.
So FedEx is set to hire 500, have you put your application in? I'm not trying to give you $hit, I'm just saying to let them decide if you are too old or not. It can't hurt to try.
