Are all your 10's dash10's or do you also have dash 30's, Im asking because I didn't think the 30 was that underpowered.
Was also curious as to the specific handling differences between the 10 and the 11, and some theories as to the why. I agree that the 10 can be finnessed to a nice landing, don't know about the 11. Not looking to criticize just don't know about the 11, and wanted to hear from people who fly both, thanks.

We have DC-10-10s, DC-10-30s, MD-10-10s, and MD-10-30s.
MD-10-30s are not as nearly underpowered as the MD-10-10s, you are correct.
All MDs land slightly different in my opinion. Power, control surface size, and computer help in the MD-11 all play a part.
It's not hard, just different. All can be landed well.

I think we have apporx 8 MD-10-30's......with more slated to be converted.
The MD-10-30 isn't under powered at all.
It is just that the MD-11 has so much power when you fly the MD-10-30's they seem like pigs, but they are not.
The MD-10-10 is a different story.........Sky Slug as far as power goes. But it is a sweet hand flying jet........and most important it pays the same

Saying the MD-10-10 is underpowered isn't really true. If it was underpowered it would not get airborne.
The -10 just does not have any excess power when compared to the MD-11.
If all you ever flew was the -10 you would not realize what you didn't have and think it was a great airplane.
Problem is we are all spoiled by the -11

The -10's are pigs, no way around that. Hand flies nice though......
The -30's are probably the best flying of the three, just IMHO.
The 11's are nice too -- I for one, like excess power.
But make NO mistake, the -10/-30's land different that MD11's, that's just fact. Not difficult to land either, but just different.
A couple of yrs ago I flew a charter from ORD-OAK with some Clydesdales in the back. We were grossed out (literally too) at around 430K in a -10 (max TO wt 440K) Not only did we use all of the paved surface on 32L (?) at ORD with packs off and me holding my breath, we didn't level off until we were west of IOWA! Took us about +55 I think to cruise alt.

I walked over and looked at that plane about 2 hours after it happened.
The floor and aft bulkhead of the bulk cargo area is buckled, it hit so hard. There is skin gone for 20 feet - you can see up into the tail cone section in places. APU doors smashed, antenna ground down, sh!t dripping everywhere. It was sobering.
