Can anyone tell me about UPS management Pilot jobs?

What about other outfits?
I've heard about the MGMT/Line pilot rift in both UPS and FedEx and they seem about the same; what about Southwest? Does SWA have the same animosity between the two groups? Does SWA even have management pilots?

Don't misunderstand... it's not a horrible job. It has it's rewards, but I just want you to understand that there are serious draw-backs, and there's no going back once you're in. I fly with young, energetic line pilots (that I know are true leaders) that volunteer countless hours of their time to the IPA. They put in at least as much time and effort into their IPA activities as I do in my job as a Mgmt Pilot. These people live, eat and breathe this stuff. Their cell phones never stop ringing with calls from the grievance committee, Professional Standards committee, and various other union committees. They are dedicated, and they believe in what they're doing. These are exactly the types that, believe it or not, would make great Mgmt Pilots. UPS needs leaders like this. Their compensation would be higher, their path to the left seat would be shorter, and their quality of life would not suffer. Heck, if I were one of these types, that's exactly what I'd do (oh, forgot - I already did that). The point is, it takes a certain type to make this kind of committment. If you're not willing to do that, you will be VERY disappointed as a Mgmt Pilot.
As for compensation:
The average Mgmt Pilot salary is slightly higher than the average line Captain pay (although the line pilot can quickly exceed that pay level by picking up a little open time). The Mgmt Pilot retirement package is significantly higher than the line pilot package. The Mgmt Pilot medical benefits are about the same.
The primary incentive is a very quick path (like immediately) to the left seat, and left seat pay.
Good luck

Bulldog,
Need4Speed has given you some really good insight into UPS Management positions. You will be an Anchorage based pilot for the next significant future if you go into UPS Management.
I just have to add that UPS has been hiring into management while there are "Line-Pilots" on furlough. If that does not speak volumes, then I am not sure what else I can say.

CC,
I think a lot has changed. Hiring managers with a furlough is number one on my list.
Hiring over age 65 former FQS's to teach in the training centers is another.
There is also a reason we have by far the highest number of grievances that has to go to arbitration. That is no accident........
Etc....Etc.....
Frontseat was fishing. I was lurking I guess
