CNN has live footage of the airport with water rushing by the gate, along with a bunch of mini vans floating by, looked like toys in a bathtub. I cannot imagine!

That wasn't live, it's midnight there! That was Sendai Airport, its right next to the coast, close to the epicenter of the quake. VIDEO: Sendai Airport deluged as earthquake strikes

My flight to NRT this morning was just canceled, so at least one layover crew is extended (sorry). The news is reporting that NRT is closed, anyone on the ground have local updates on NRT ops?

Still curfew, wonder if it will still be closed after the curfew. Looks like Yokota is letting civilian flights land there.

Our (not me personally) NRT flt last night was changed to a Kix destination. The next leg still show departing from Nrt, so they have not figured out the remedy as of yet. 777 prg 94/11

Isn't Haneda open? NRT is still subject to curfew. Expect many revised pairings in the Asia theatre....

Thanks for the updates, HSLD.

I flew right over downtown Tokyo on a beautiful, clear night (Shanghai-ANC) just 16 hours prior to the tsunami. To imagine what would happen to the area just a few hours later. Eerie.
