FDX TA rumors
Of course, as they say "...your mileage may vary!"
The company is happy with the TA because:
1) Much of the overseas flying will be transferred to the HKG MD-11 FDA as 777's pick up the trans-oceanics.
2) MD-10s replaced by 767s over next 5-7 years with no contractual language to integrate wide-body and narrow-body same type.
3) Negotiations will be delayed until long after company establishes integration of 757/767 payrates.
4) Arbitration by weak union and weak union staff Attys almost always goes to company.
5) MEM/LAX MD-11 domiciles reduced and pilots will have to chase the money previously earned to the FDA they never would have ok'd if they knew they might have to go there. Unless they downbid to the narrow body pay with occasional wide body pay of the 75/76. Remember, we gave up our right to negotiate our contract for years by taking the 3% raise.
6) MD-11 follows essentially the same path the DC-10 bidpack did after the MD-11 took over the international flying.
7) TA allows for easier discipline of our pilots.
8) Management cannot be forced to negotiate before the new amendable date of the ratified TA despite any assurances pre-vote. RLA trumps contractual agreements and forces disputes into arbitrations (see #4).
The MEC is delighted with the TA because:
1) Allows pay for a select secret few to receive 777 Capt pay out of seniority. This keeps the MEC members and committee chairman as "executive session" rubber stamps.
2) SS was told he can't make a serious bid for ALPA president until he takes his airline through a contract (I guess it doesn't matter if its only a 4 section "bridge" contract)
3) The trip pay loss section of contract is only one with any substantive changes made.
4) Union members become even more apathetic and disconnected from the goings on in their union and no longer even bother to see how their millions of dues dollars are being spent.
The NC is happy because:
1) Guarantees several more years of Trip Pay Loss (some have been on it for most of the last 10 years) with no real expectation of success.
The Members are happy because:
1) Most just want to do "my job and go home."
2) "I'm not going to live overseas anyway"
These are the things I'm hearing on the line. If even a few are true, we are in trouble.

Thread title is accurate!
you can pass around kindergarten recess rumors, or you can seek the truth (and maybe confirm some of these?) the fact is posting a list of subjective rumors has one purpose and on purpose only.
I think, actually know, you can ask these questions to any ALPA person you want to. I have not seen or heard of them ducking ANY questions presented to date.
I may not like the answers to some of them, but after watching road shows and talking to others at turn meetings, you have the right and duty to not spread rumors when the factual answers are a phone call or email away. One caveat, you can surmise all you want about the Company's motives (pointless IMHO), I am referring to the answers that affect our side.
Please grow up, not just directed to the OP. If we want to paid like pros. Act like one.

Steamgauge, So you've been a member here on APC for just over 2 years, in which time you've made two posts, both of which are totally rumor related. Here's some kindly advice: please go away, and don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out.
