We heard the rumor of the sim not being a jeopardy event for the poolies, but I would imagine we all took it as seriously as if it was a checkride. I never heard about anyone not making it because of the sim. I thought we all had... what a real bummer.
Next class is 21 March. 10 happy poolies joining!
I heard there is a class of 20 sometime in mid April (although maybe I heard that here on APC )

I think this is a nasty case of double jeopardy. I understand wanting to review what a candidate has been up to for the 5 years since he/she interviewed, but this is a bit ridiculous. Management and the hiring team should be ashamed.

Not a rumor at all, it's true. A current line pilot's son was brought back in for the "no harm" sim and second interview, and was dismissed. Since this candidate has been in the pool at FedEx, he's put his career on hold for nearly 5 years awaiting a class date. His sim ride, while not stellar (he's been working on seniority mergers for the union at another airline) was the reason given.

Not shooting the messenger but I have often heard things similar and there turns out to be more to the story. YMMV

You mean like "working on seniority mergers for the union"? I can't imagine our management team holding that against him.

It's amazing that Fred Smith can go from writing a college paper on the idea of FedEx (for which he got some mediocre grade and a professor telling him the idea will never work) to having employed almost 1,000,000 people.
