Pax airlines tend to make aircraft purchases to reduce operating expenses.

Cargo airlines tend to make aircraft purchases to increase volume and revenue.

Generally speaking of course ...

Somehow the OP feels that UPS/FedEx are going to be on the forefront of single pilot aircraft.

I'd like to know why ??? Other than pax perception ...
It's not the cargo companies that will pursue this, it's the aircraft manufacturers. They'll pursue it because it'll eventually be tomorrow's technology, there's shrinking pool of pilots, and the fact that they'll sell a lot of them to the pax carriers once they can demonstrate reliability and effectiveness. The manufacturers will provide financial incentives to the cargo carriers to help them prove it and get the flying public over their reticence.

I certainly never intend to do so. And don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating, I'm prognosticating.
