A great resource to help you maximize the quality of your time preparing for the test:
Sheppard Air Flight Test 4.0 Prep Software ATP, Flight Engineer, Mil Comp - FAA Airline Transport Pilot
Sheppard Air Flight Test 4.0 Prep Software ATP, Flight Engineer, Mil Comp - FAA Airline Transport Pilot
On a side note, what are the chances of snagging an interview if you meet all the minimum requirements (to include a current FE written) but don't have a "Sponsor?" I have 3 internal Recs, but all of them are already sponsoring another person. Do I have a chance?

We haven't gotten our marching orders yet on rec's or how mangle-ment is going to handle the process. Speculating.... it's a safe bet that a recommendation will carry some weight although it's doubtful you'll be able to recommend your entire former squadron buddies. Furthermore, it's very evident that we will have a gazillion applicants regardless if we hire 150 or 500 this year.
Hopefully we'll get word soon. You guys/gals on the outside need to remember that the pilot group wants people hired soon too. It means we ALL move up!

As far as I know there's no requirement to have a "sponsor." O hasn't even sent out what the hiring process will entail. If you meet the mins, have multiple internal reccs, etc you got as good a chance as anyone. Unless we find out in a couple weeks that there will be a process like the old "meet and greet" that required a sponsor. Update/create your profile on the 15th, update regularly and hope for the best until you hear otherwise. Good luck though it's a great place.

What's the lifestyle like at FedEx?
How much of your time off do you use sleeping to prep for a midnight trip, or sleeping to recover from an all nighter? Would most fedex pilots classify the job as "fun" or rather a way to make alot of money? When I have fedex pilots ride my jumpseat, they seem worn out, tired, but yet talk soley on how much they make and never mention any kind of fun they have at work.
Obviously fedex isn't as fun as working for Southwest Airlines, but is it tolerable being a midnight freightdog as you age into your 50's and 60's?
Also, what's the life expectancy after retirement from fedex? Any research done on the effects of working the backside of the clock?
Thanks

I'm just going to bite my tongue on this one. Seems to be a familiar theme, on the cargo board, of desperate pilots looking for a way out of their current jobs and asking all the same questions that keep getting answered over and over before they do any reading.
The "SWA vs FedEx" thread on the "majors" board, along with this one, and a few prior to this one, should give you a good idea of the answers you seek. I know it's a lot of reading, but worth the time for lots of good information.
Good Luck,
PtP

The life expectancy is much longer than getting on a CRJ with a low time FO, or a crew trained by Gulfstream FLight Academy
