The above said, still thanks Mark because it's a good review for those wanting to become a purple pilot.

Happy New Year!
What does the red text mean? Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I don't understand what you are getting at.

I'm almost 100% positive it was SEP-DEC so it should be finished. I moved over to the 744, so my last 11 trip was in SEP when it started. I'm sure that it was ending at the end of DEC.

I don't remember any HNL trips for FedEx in the bids!!

After the App window opens, any guesses as to how long it will be for the hiring process to begin?

Does FEDEX do a credit check on new hires? is your credit score/history a factor in hiring at all?

I took the FE written in 2006. Am I doing anything wrong by checking the box on the app then re-taking the exam before my (possible) interview?

JJ

I think someone already replied to your question, but I'll answer anyway.

I agree with you in that, as per FAR's, your FEX written test is current, as you have been employed by a Part 121 carrier since you last took the test. Now, FedEx wants the written within the last 24 months, regardless of FARs. That is just how they like it. I know this from personal experience.

It seems to me that what you are doing is correct. Per FARs, your written is current. So, yes, you do have a current FEX written.

Now, as someone else advised, as soon as you get the call for the interview, go re-take the written and show up with a fresh score.

Of course, one needs to make sure that the Flight Engineer written test is the FEX (Flight Engineer Turbojet). There are other types of FE writtens that do not satisfy FedEx's requirements.

Good luck

Here's one more opinion:

If you have any inclination at all to apply to FedEx, have a current (within 2 year) FEX written when you apply. I would not rely on a FAA exception that the company doesn't recognize. Realize that having a current (within the past 2 years) is simply another indication of your sincerity in wanting to get hired by FedEx. 99% of the applicants will have it, do you want to be part of the 1% who can't be bothered to meet the clearly stated (ok, maybe not so clearly stated on the website but you have numerous current FedEx line pilots telling you clearly the company's requirement) requirement of employment? I don't think so.

Most of us took the test multiple times (I had to do it 3 times) and recognize that it is a boreass. That being said, the company wants to see that you are willing to put forth the effort of maintaining it throughout your courtship with the company, so I would do my darnedest to ensure that I had that sucker done (within the past 2 years).

Best of luck,

FJ
