What is up UPS?

I agree. I don't consider airline pilots as professionals. There is no specialized education, just a year long apprenticeship at UPT and the civilian equivalent. We even have quite a few captains at UPS without any college--HS grads making 300k!! We make tons more than we "deserve" in a free market. Thank the Lord for unions!! If not for most of the former military guys having masters, our group would be educated on par with rental car managers, 1st grade teachers, and restaurant managers. Quite a difference in pay between us and them, except for maybe the pax guys.
Sounds like one of our ex chief pilots over here at purple. Said we had "no special skills"! Anyway LiL, I can say that you have a nice avatar!

If a UPS pilot is making 300k he/she is not in compliance with the EB directives on reducing flying. The best they should do is about 260k. By the way the union knows who these people are because they pay a percentage of income in union dues, which makes it really easy to track them.

LJS,
Your opinion of your fellow pilots-especially the bottom 200 that were widebody Captains at other airlines is pretty far off the mark.

I'd like him to elaborate on exactly who is worthy of what they're paid and why.
Investment bankers, UPS management, rock/movie stars, crack dealers, congressmen, TSA screeners, basketball players...who?

It's interesting to me that the only charge brought so far is "unlawful use of a computer." Kentucky, like most states, has pretty specific language dealing with attempts to entice children into sex acts using the computer or otherwise. That the state hasn't brought the charge tells me that something may be amiss in their allegations against this man.
As of right now, we're getting all of our information from the news, which is getting it from law enforcement. As a result, we're only getting one side of the story..the "hammer's" side. Law enforcement is under no duty to present a "fair" or "balanced" account of what actually took place...that's what the courts are for. Moreover, when it comes to truth, members of law enforcement are not always the choir boys we wish them to be. By that I mean that they are known, on occasion, to LIE.
(If you can find a copy of Rodney King's arrest report online, go back and read it. The cop's original version of King's arrest differed substantially from what was being recorded (without their knowledge, obviously) on videotape. In fact, it differed enough to send most of the cops involved to prison, and to make Rodney King a very wealthy man.)
Unlike many of you, I don't personally know the individual charged in this. He may well be a perv. But there is the possibility that he is a caring and concerned father and family man who thinks he's been corresponding with a youth who has been turning tricks on the street to escape a broken or abusive home life. And unless there was some specific language in their chats regarding specific acts and/or payment for same, that may well be what was intended.
The point is, I don't know the whole story, and I don't think any of you know either. All I'm suggesting is that you withold judgement until all the facts have come out.

BINGO! As a cop, it's called creative writing. I'm not always proud of what my co-workers put in reports.

I notice getting called out on it didn't slow you down much from your usual pontifications on truth, justice, and the American Way. I think you've outgrown this place, you should run for office and take your act on the road.

What's all the fuss? I interpreted it as a self indictment. Perhaps this is just too much for him and he feels guilty and not worthy. To atone he could donate how ever much of his Ill gotten gains to charity, or those furloughees who are worthy.
