What is up UPS?

I'm pretty sure I saw a follow-up episode to that Hanson show (the NBC guy, not the boy band) that said the actual conviction rate of all those pervs they caught on the show was VERY low. Most copped some kind of plea, did no time, and didn't have to register as sex offenders. One moran even got caught AGAIN on the same show weeks after his first acquittal. I really hope that doesn't happen with this guy (if he's guilty); being a "smart, rich" airline pilot, he can probably afford an expensive attorney to get him off (as it were).

I agree. I don't consider airline pilots as professionals. There is no specialized education, just a year long apprenticeship at UPT and the civilian equivalent. We even have quite a few captains at UPS without any college--HS grads making 300k!! We make tons more than we "deserve" in a free market. Thank the Lord for unions!! If not for most of the former military guys having masters, our group would be educated on par with rental car managers, 1st grade teachers, and restaurant managers. Quite a difference in pay between us and them, except for maybe the pax guys.

Thank God for the military guys....if it was up to us under-educated, apparently no experience civilian guys the planes would never get off the ground. I agree that you make what you negotiate as opposed to what you "deserve" , but the rest of your post is either a joke, or based on your apparent perspective, you were extremely lucky in your career not to have to really work at it.....
oh, and I agree with FIT59, if you decide to not turn in your "welcome to management" letter next year and hang out with us under-educated line guys, stay far far away from the negotiating committee....

I agree. I've heard some crazy stories about pilots that have made me shake my head.

What an embarrassment to the UPS pilot ranks.
