You can always mail a resume in. Since there's no hiring till next year, they may have just taken the posting down for the holidays.

To the OP, life at world.

Pros

Homebasing, FO pay, decent contract, long stretch of days off, long layovers, people, experience. Job in a bad economy.

Cons

Homebasing (makes the trips loooong hard to have a norm life), typical 15 hr duty nights! Do you like a showtime at 1:00 AM & finish at 4 PM next day. Regardless of the time zone it's usually night your body will pay for it. Think a 4 hr dead head is bad....try 18 hrs. Projected 9 yr upgrade. Reactive management.....shortstaffed & they hire a whopping 4 pilots!

Bottom line you either love it or hate it, so says my friend....

Cool

Its all relative:
makes the trips loooong hard to have a norm life
If you're a homebody, then World is not for you. I like "2 weeks on 2 weeks off." IMHO its better then 3 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off etc, etc. I have a 2 week vacation every month! Actually 3 weeks this month, and that's without vacation!
typical 15 hr duty nights
You want to fly the big iron, you're going to have long days. Even at DL and UPS, you think 777/747s have short trips? Besides, not every leg 15hrs, nor night.
Think a 4 hr dead head is bad....try 18 hrs
16 hours is max. Unless you approve. Its hard to get to Asia/Europe in 4 hrs. Think Pro, lots of FF miles to take your wife somewhere, positive space!

A more correct statement would be they started with 4. Had we not been swamped with trng requirements due to fleet changes we would have hired lot more. More hiring this winter. New hires will have to go to 747 if we get a sixth one in 2011.
Projected Fleet by this time next year:
16 - MD-11
5 - 747-400

with the current vacancy bid out we may have new hires go to the 747, some pilots opted out of going to the a/c and now there are some vacant spots.

So, where did you come up with five 74s and "...if we get a sixth one in 2011?"

I know there was talk, heard it from Monford's mouth myself, but is there an announcement that I missed?

I see well I don't know.... just forwarding intel that was given to me from my contact over there. I used to want to work there someday. Now I think I'll pass. Cheers.

Probably better for that you don't want to come here, it's for me but clearly not for you. Best of luck. Cheers

A fifth one is already in the budget. I guess 6th is still in rumor mode. Bill keeps mentioning PAX version for polar ops, what AMC wants. We'll see, can only hope.

With this type of flying, typically how many crews are needed per aircraft?
