Default UPS Flight 6 crew coming home

Heard a rumor that Doug and Matt are finally being flown home and will be in SDF tomorrow morning. Can anyone confirm this. So much for the 2 day notice if true.

May they be cleared direct with blue skies and following winds.

Eternal light grant upon them.

N579UP has been sitting in DXB for a couple of days waiting for everything to finalize. I'll check tonight when I get to work to see if I can get details and will update if details haven't already been posted!

Just saw the jumpseat page having a 1054z arrival time in SDF tomorrow. I guess we shall see if it departs later today.

UPS6 eta SDF is 1105Z. For those that cannot access upsers.com.

Tonight, Captain Doug Lampe and First Officer Matthew Bell, the crew of UPS Flight 6, will begin their final journey home. We plan to repatriate and honor these crewmembers in a ceremony in the Louisville hangar tomorrow morning, Sept. 24, 2010, in accordance with the families’ wishes.
Capt. Lampe and F/O Bell will be escorted by specially selected UPS flight crewmembers, Family Assistance and Support Team escorts and a few immediate family members on a direct flight from Dubai to Louisville. The UPS 747-400 is expected to arrive in Louisville at 7 a.m., Sept. 24. It will be crewed by Captains Wayne Jackson and Reggie Everett representing the IPA as well as 747-400 Chief Pilot Capt. Doug Menish and 747-400 Flight Training Manager Ed Faith. A message will be sent out between 4 and 5 p.m. today once we have confirmation the aircraft has departed Dubai. Please be on the lookout for an update at that time as program start times are subject to change.
A repatriation ceremony will be held in Doug and Matthew’s honor shortly after the aircraft is in front of the Louisville hangar. This will be our final opportunity to say thank you and goodbye to these fine airmen before they are released to the care of their families.
While it is understandable that employees throughout the company will want to pay their respects, unfortunately, seating capacity at the ceremony is limited. The invited audience includes all crewmembers and Flight District employees as well as UPS employees from other areas.
Employees may begin entering through the hangar employee gate at 5 a.m. Attendees should plan accordingly and leave enough time to ensure they arrive and are seated by 7 a.m. The doors will be closed at 7:30 a.m.

Out of respect for the families, we ask that all employees attending the repatriation ceremony wear business attire. Crewmembers should plan to wear their full uniforms with fabric jackets.
At the request of the families, cameras and all other recording devices
are strictly prohibited.

Transportation and Parking
Parking for the ceremony is limited. The hangar parking lot should be kept clear for those employees reporting to work in the hangar and Flight Training Center.
• Crewmembers are encouraged to park in Air District lots 1 & 2 (on the south side of Grade Lane, across from the Flight Training Center).
• Air Service Center employees may catch a shuttle directly to the hangar.
• Employees located at the Global Operations Center will be picked up at the main entrance of the building via shuttle service.
• Air Group Bldg. employees are encouraged to park in the GOC lot or the Lotus Avenue parking lots (across from the crewmember parking lot).
Shuttle service will be available to transport employees to the hangar employee gate.
Shuttle services will start at 4:45 a.m. and end one hour after the event and will run consecutively.
Security
The repatriation ceremony is intended for UPS employees. However, spouses may attend if they are accompanied by their UPS spouse. All employees must present a valid UPS ID and will be required to undergo screening. Federal Flight Deck Officers will need to be sure to store their weapons prior to attending the ceremony. Once the ceremony is completed, all employees will exit the air park. Any employees who need to return to work inside the air park will be required to go through normal screening.
