UPS Mgt Pilots Possible Line Numbers

ups mgmt pilots
18 wheeler...
Do you know the difference between a catfish and ups mgmt pilot??? One is a bottom dwelling, scum feeding, dirty form of life, the other is just a fish....
The managers are looked at as strike breakers (as their role was in 97 for the teamsters) and are hired directly from the street with (sometimes) very little in the way of real life airline experience.

Line Numbers for UPS Mgt
I really take exception to the comments about management pilots at UPS.
I am in the group that was hired into management long ago. I had plenty of airline experience. I also have 4 type ratings at UPS and have instructed and checked in 4 different aircraft. However, I do agree with you about some of our recently hired managers. A few are very incompetent and it reflects badly on all of us. Also, with regard to the '97 strike, no one in the know at the IPA really thinks of us as scabs. That is the job that management does in time of strikes. You know that very well. We were not out to take your line numbers or replace you.

mgmt pilots
Geoffrey...
In 97 the mgmt pilots DID replace us...why does ups have so many mgmt pilots compared to every other airline..yes, that includes fedex? These guys are instructing, yes, but that doesn't mean they have any real experience. It's real easy to sit back in the sim god chair and say "gotcha!". For the most part, when I get a line check out and back from sdf, the manager has never been to the gateway...hardly engenders confidence in their abilties and experience.

UPS Line Numbers
That may well be for the line checks you have received. I flew for the contractors. I was a line pilot at UPS prior to going into management. I have been to virtually all UPS gateways, domestic and international (including SA, Europe, and the Pac Rim. I know all the "ins and outs" in the system. I also have never done a "gotcha" in the simulator. I may be in the minority of managers, but the line people I know and work with respect me.

Geoffrey,
Wake up!! You are not a line pilot. You wandered away from the flock and slept with the sheppard. You can't wash off that stink with a quick shower. You made a decision to leave the working pilot group and work against your brothers. There is no return to the flock. Hanging out at this forum does not make you a line pilot. Go hang out at Managementpilotcentral.com

UPS Line Numbers
You must have big problems. Just because I chose mgt. does not make me or any other mgt. person an outcast. If you think UPS could be run better, step up to the plate and volunteer. Don't just complain, participate.

BTW, being a management pilot has nothing to do with running the company. Management pilots do not run the company.

Geoffrey, what happens if you have a moral or philosophical difference with something the company wants you to do, say fire a crew member. Can you refuse and go back to the line? If not then you are not an advocate for the crew force. You are no better than a suit in the accounting office. At least at FE the flight management can say "you know, I'm not going to do that" and pack their trash and go back to the best job in the airline business, flying the line.
