Yeah, don't let someone's zip code fool you. Extra flying is being done across the board. I am flying with a calendar-hiding commuter- that I suspect has way too many blue lines streaking acorss his August calendar.
About f/o's flexing... some guys have very strong backgrounds with instructing by the time they get their job at Fedex, I think using them as flexes can be a good thing. Look at their overall career experience. But I realize some egos can't handle it. I recently met a jumpseater on one of my flights- he was upgrading to captain in the -11 and had just had his oral. They were AQP, so it was done by a flex. He asked me if I knew the guy- I did, and when he found out the guy was an /fo flex, he had a hissy fit. Pounded the counter, "I should have known! An f/o!" And bit(hed about how only a captain is qualified to do that training...... Gimme a break.

In fact, throw in the issue of Professional Instructors, and tell me how they should rank.
Do you want the best instructors in the schoolhouse, or just the ones with a certain number of stripes?

They don't want the best instructors they want the cheepest. The union gave them pay reductions, and work rule changes that should bring Pardrone a large MBO payout.

With a 3 to 3.5% annual inflation rate and our contract being amendable for the last two years, a 9% raise would amount to a COLA for the last two years plus a 2% raise. With no compounding from an annual raise the actual amount is less.

Hey, probably should start another thread, but I'm too lazy. If there was a 9% retro, how would you guys like to see that administered? On total earnings since the amendable date, on a seat and year formula, etc. Seems if you do it on a total compensation basis aren't you rewarding the bone heads that have been hring the last year or so. But if you don't, how do you base it?
