What did u get? I've bought several watches from him and they've all worked great. Some of the watches I bought 4 or 5 years ago. They are expensive though. His prices seem to have gone up.

Default Watch advise...

Knowledge is key...

Why would someone buy a 'replica watch': same reason someone would buy a replica Shelby Cobra. There are 3 markets: New, used, and replica.

I try not to respond to the threads on this board anymore but here I am. If anyone needs any watch advise I would be happy to help out in a PM. I have helped many pilots with their watches over the years and helped with purchasing as well.

Many times guys have purchased rep watches and think they are broken by the time they get home...only to find out that they didn't know how the watch worked mechanically.

If you have not met me yet at work I am the guy with the big watch...

Going to Jammy's for the first time--Is it a "negotiation" on the price or is the price he tells you firm?

Not much of a negotiation. Somet
imes will make a deal if you buy multiple watches.

Bring lots of cash, too. There is an extra charge if you use a credit card.

Let me guess, it stopped working when you weren't wearing it?

I have bought numerous watches from Jimmy and have been pleased with what I got. He is very up-front about the differences in quality ("good" "very good" "best"). Be prepared to stay a little while and do a little socialization though. If you are the only customer, he'll brew tea and relax before showing you the watches.

His prices have gone up over the years, especially now that his direct (and nearby) competition is gone (Debbie).

I've been flying Asia for a while and most folks that buy with Jimmy are pleased. Occasionally hear of one that doesn't work right, but most returns are for normal maintenance (cleaning, polishing or replacement of the band).

Default Request

If anyone has bought a watch from Jammy in the last year, would you mind PM'ing me and tell me what you paid for it (trying to get a ballpark figure on what to expect to pay...)

My Rolex Submariner that I bought from Debbie 15 years ago for $300 or so has worked perfectly and still looks like new. It's the same watch Jammy sells. I've bought watches at the Gold Souk, Hong Kong and the 580 market in Shanghai. None of them held a candle to the watches from Jammy or Debbie. I have purchased at least 10 watches from them and all of them work perfectly. Jammys high quality watches have high end swiss movements and sapphire crystals plus most of them are waterproof. My Rolex Submariner is exactly like the real one because a friend of mine has a real one and I've studied the two side by side. The watches in Hong Kong and the 580 market are junk. They are the copy watches the street hustlers use on tourists. The crystal is made of cheap glass that scratches if you look at it wrong. They are similar copies but no where near exact and are easily identified as copies by anyone with any knowledge of watches. The rolex crown on the cheap ones is glued on the stem like a cover whereas a good copy will have a one-piece cast solid stem. The screws on the band of my submariner are all exactly the same. The movement or sweep of the second hand is also a good identifier. The really cheap copies use a quartz movement so the second hand sweep moves in a click click movement each second. The so-so copies haav a continuous sweeping movement but it's not as smooth as a good copy which moves very smoothly.
You get what you pay for. I'm very happy with the watches I've purchased and like I said they all are working today. I have two with gold plating and one with rose gold and they still look great with no quality issues. I've changed a couple of batteries over the years but that is to be expected. Jammy's prices have gone up recently because of the exchange rate for our worthless dollar.
