Cool FDX Vacation Buffer

Need some interpretation help? My vacation originally ran 26 July-7 Aug and I slid it left to 21 July-2 Aug with secondary lines for both July & Aug. I've read the CBA numerous times--do I get a 48 hour buffer at the end of my vacation? Thanks for the help!

7.G.2.a

2. Secondary/Custom Line Holder
a. A pilot shall receive a 48 hour duty free vacation buffer at
each end of his vacation period provided that the buffer
occurs in a bid period in which the pilot is awarded a
secondary line. A vacation buffer shall not extend outside
the bid period(s) in which the vacation occurred. A vacation
buffer shall not create a conflict with a trip that began in the
previous bid period

I've read that same section multiple times. My vacation spanned two bid periods both before the slide and afterwards with both months secondary lines. The CBA states "A vacation buffer shall not extend outside the bid period(s) in which the vacation occurred." My read is that if your vacation spans two bid periods, you should have the buffer before and after. Currently I do not have a 48 buffer between the end of my vacation and the start of my next trip. Called the futures scheduler and awaiting a return call.

suggest you try ALPA office as well. They may have a quick answer or better access to someone at FDX to speed things up.

I think you should have a buffer but just remember you cannot waive the TAFB 48 hr buffer after an international trip that has a TAFB 120hrs or >.

The futures peeps should be calling you and giving you help.
