Whay would we have 1st year pay rates for anything else then? It's $2000/mo until activated, then what ever A/C and seat your in. You know...Like if you were one of our A-380 Captains and it was your 1st year, you'd be making $216.73/hr.

If you check Section 3C, the 3 junior seats (NB FO and both SOs) have the same rate of pay. Widebody FO is a couple bucks more. In the unlikely event of a year 1 captain, possible with the poor FDA incentives, there are NB and WB Capt rates. Of course, when you hit 2nd year, the WB FO pay more than doubles.

Which equals a $700 paycheck every two weeks ---- pathetic!!

The same rate for past 25+ years ---- even more pathetic!!

Something that needs to change in the next contract based on principle alone...

...AND the fact that total inflation has been 105% over this time period.

It's time for FEDEX training pay to double!!

I'm sure there's 10000 guys lined up for a job here even with the "2000.00 a/mo until activated" pay! I think we should work on other things the next contract...

Doesn't make it right. There's probably guys that would train for free for three months, too. It's time to do the right thing here and give guys a living wage while they're in training.

Default Another option

2K per month until activated is fine if the Company would be to pay for room/board during initial training.

I agree with the sentiment to improve the financial condition for new hires while in training, but I think it might be a little short sighted. It is in the best interest of the company to entice highly qualified pilot candidates to work here, not so much the union's. While we of course all benefit from have high quality people on the property, this should be an equal or greater concern for the company.

It has been postulated that there will actually be a pilot shortage in the next decade. FedEx might want to get their manning healthy before that crisis hits. How much of any other more significant longer term contractual benefit would we be willing to forego in order to raise the pay for the first three months of employment by 50% to 100%?

I would like to see that initial pay increased. But when I made the transition from one career to commercial aviation, I paid $8000 to pay for training to get a job and benefits for my family.

We should focus on issues that will affect us for a longer term and let the issues that equally benefit the company remain their problem. It will not be long before some qualified new hire ponders life at FedEx vs United, American, SWA, etc. As in most cases, you get what you pay for. So goes it for FedEx.

Welcome aboard to all the poolies. Looking forward to buying you a few cold ones.

...and management is just waiting to exploit this type of mentality on a variety of other issues that occur later in a new hires career.

Think about it.

What type of message are you sending management and future FEDEX pilots when you let new hire pay degrade over 25 years?

Let's keep the ladder all the way down in the water gentleman.

If they were to cost out paying first year pay during newhire training, I'm sure it would be the cheapest contract modification request...ever.
