#2 looks similar. What's everyone's take on how few bodies they're leaving in the back seat of the 72?

My take ... it will take several months to run through the training letter. They will keep the back "appropriately" manned with current pilots on the seniority list until after peak. Then hiring in early 2011. Hopefully Pros/Corp then poolies.. After that opening to "General Population".

But there is no way they are going to have half as many SOs as they have Capts and FOs for any significant period of time.

"Jack Pack" was part of a musical group......like "XXXXXXXXX and the Jack Pack"

From wikipedia

They reached their prime in the 70's yet still shockingly relevant today. While most of their music was indistiguishable from their predecessors, they are most noted for their anthem "Feathering Your Empty Nest".

Though many find that piece of music to be drawn-out, laborious, and predictable, it gained wide acceptance among their generation. All agree it stemmed out of human emotion and motivation that have been around since man was civilized. Even those who claimed not to like the music admitted to singing the tune in private, or just realized they unwittingly hummed it while working.

Some report seeing whole groups of people raving all-night long dancing to that tune without regard for the effects these nightly parties have on their long term health.

While younger generations find the music distasteful, many expect that they will be forced to lipsync to the song later on. Some claim to look forward to the time when they can appreciate such classic lyrics.
LJ....very nicely done!

100% agree. There is NO reason to have an LOA for CGN or any new FDA at this point. If the company wants a new FDA, then they can speed up the contract negotiations and have it a part of the new contract.

Let your block rep know.

Sad...but true.

In 2013 the 727 fleet will be significantly smaller and the guys who choose to stay past 65 (...yes, past 65!!!) will have only one place to go.

Thus, the 727 SO seat turns into the 2006-era DC-10.

Prediction: Many new hires will go direct to the 757 or an unfilled FDA.

I think that would be a good strategy. Hire a bunch of 60 year olds and put them in the back seat. Might save the Company lots of $$ on retirement!
