Just when I thought UPS was cold & heartless
...they go and send me a beautiful plaque thanking me for my military service. It was signed personally by the chief pilot and the note made me believe they really do care. I realized that I was wrong for accusing them of trying to take advantage of an economic downturn to extort contract concessions from their employees. I falsely accused them of being unethical, lying thugs and for that I am truly sorry. I really don't mind the furlough anymore....

Yeah, these corporations are most amazing in some of the off-the-wall things that they do. It just defies logic. I've been out on long term disability for (it will be) 3 years at the end of the month, and just last week FedEx sent me a card and gift catalog, thanking me for my 20 years of service, and asking me to pick my "gift" from the catalog. What do I know? So I picked one. And by the way, TT, Thanks for your service to our country.
Happy 4th of July, y'all (that's you all, for everyone born north of the Mason-dixon line.)

In the long ago and far away I was interviewing for a job at a rather large and well funded entity. I asked a rather pointed question about pay scales and was told: "I think you will find the job itself is quite rewarding."
It was only by extreme force of will that I was able to maintain a calm and neutral expression.
