When a wildly profitable company, in a growing freight market, furloughs and makes plans for more over two years, you have to wonder what is happening. The environment has changed for pilot employment at Big Brown. The decision makers have altered the expectations that pilots should have when accepting a position there.

It's obvious they no longer want highly experienced pilots to accept the sacrifice of first year pay in hopes of making it up later and settling in for a great career. They want hungry furloughed guys/gals and folks barely hanging on at underpaying regionals who accept the possibility of furlough at any time. BIG CHANGE. Folks make a judgment when they decide to fly tough schedules at night. Some have always chosen against it even when offered higher pay and stability. Good luck with hiring.

Call it whatever you like. The IPA hanging tough (like a Spartan?) or management sacrificing some of their most highly skilled employees to save a few bucks. It stinks. I'm not surprised SD was a part of the biggest financial crisis to hit us since the great depression. He might have come to Brown because he was shown the door for poor performance. He's obviously a ruthless, bitter man.

It is made worse by putting the new hires up at Anchorage. They gave up what they had going for them just in time to get the carpet pulled out from under their feet.

They put the new hires up in ANC because no one wanted to go that was already on the seniority list. Dumping them in ANC and not getting them moved back to the lower 48 if they wanted to come was and is wrong.
