FDX-Apple Store in PDX
I'm heading to PDX next month and heard you can save some coin by buying an Apple at the Apple Store there. Has anyone purchased there, and is it worth messing with? I've had about all I can take of Microsoft etc. and I'm considering making the switch. Upholding the "cheap airline pilot" image, I'm looking to save a little if it's worth the trouble.

I believe that the discount is 8% and believe once you go Apple you will never go back. Plus if you have an iPhone and use Bidx you will be able to do things that you can't do from Windows! Good luck at the Apple store in PDX, I just talked to my friend that works at that store and he said that they are packed with people looking to get the new iPhone. Just tell them that you are there to buy a computer and they will let you in.

8% off of CPU's with your FedEx ID and no sales tax in OR. I don't think they're giving any discounts, corporate or otherwise, on the iPads.

Discount on Mac Mini too
Picked up a Mac mini today as we make the switch. I received an 8% discount on the mini and a couple of accessories. I too picked up an Ipad and like it. My wife has one as well and has not been able to break it which is great! The Ipad is no laptop though, no flv or swf files can be played. Most of the 727 training files are not in that format so no problems for now. The support for PDF files has definitely lightened my backpack.

What I was talking about with BidX is that when you goto the "Open Time" section there is a button to export your schedule to iCal that you do get with the windows version. Then you can put that calendar on your iphone and look at you trip whenever you want. I haven't carried a paper copy of a trip in over 2 years now. I also signed my wife up for a MobleMe account and we sync our calendars. That way I don't have to call her from Asia anymore to find out what days off I need to try and get when I bid each month. It may sound petty but it has helped out a lot. I love it so much that my wife just picked up two new iphones while she is down in CA!!!! (There are none left in OR)
