Default FDX - DOV deviation???

I am looking for info from those who have deviated to/from DOV.

I have an upcoming trip MEM-DOV, layover and then DH out the next day. I am a commuter so do not plan on taking the scheduled DH but realize that DOV is quite far from PHL (2.5 hours) and actually closer to BWI (1.5 hours).

My question is does the GT vendor, 5 star limo, provide transportation to both airports, what are other affordable options (train?) and what the FDX rate.

Thanks for any info in advance.

My last deviation into PHL, I just waited around for the scheduled limo time. During the 2 hour drive to Dover I discussed (deviation) fares from his company. I have to apologize as I don't recall the actual $$ but I remember thinking it was quite a bit more reasonable than I had expected. I would call them and ask for a quote. Like you said, maybe BWI would be even cheaper.

Also, many years ago in my active duty days I once caught a C5 space-A seat to Dover. Once I arrived, I needed to get to Andrew's AFB. It turned out that there was a regularly scheduled van service to ADW. Maybe you could call the base for suggestions?

Regards ...

I did a deviation trip into Dover back in APR. I called the Limo company and they gave me the same rate as the company, $150. I told them my flight # and what time I was getting there and the guy was waiting there for me. It took about 1:45 mins to get there with traffic. I thought about BWI as an alternative, but it's about the same from there. Good Luck!

Five star goes to PHL. It's only about 45min-to an hour from DOV. You have to almost go past the PHL airport to get to BWI, so you're better off going to PHL. Just call them and tell them what you need to do and to change it. Or just tell the driver when you get in. They are very flexible. You'll probibly get a better rate if you tell them ahead of time. Dunno what the rate is for you FX guys, but I think they charge us $125 or $150.

Purple Tail:
I have this trip next month. I found a vendor who would take me to PHL for $100. Email me and I'll be glad to give the info.

Not sure how your guys drive, but you don't go anywhere near BWI to get to PHL from DOV. If your driver is, you're getting hosed. To PHL from DOV, out the base, north on Rt.1 to I-95 in New Castle and NORTH to PHL. Drive time about an hour.

For BWI, out the base, through town and over to US 301, south to the Bay Bridge and up Rt. 2. Drive time about 1:30...more if a Sunday afternoon and beach traffic.
