Default UPS Retirements

So I'm looking at the reference seniority list for the new bid that just came out....
I can't honestly say I blame a lot of these guys for staying past age 60 but MY GAWD, every time I see >60 next to a name I just want to scream! It seems like every time I look at the seniority list there are more and more. I wish they wouldn't point it out on the seniority list like that. I can't wait till these people start retiring!

Your going to pull your hair out for long time to come. Our group is very young, average age is 44.

People are constantly reaching 60. When one leaves he is replaced by another. You seem to act like it is a passing fad. Its the new norm so you'd better get used to it.

I know...I wish it was just a fad. I think if they didn't point it out on the seniority list with the big old <60, it would be a little better.

Shaggy...no doubt. When you see a bald female pilot walking around, you'll know it's me.

I am a furloughed United pilot and before the rule was changed all of the older guys I flew with said they are gone when they turned 60. Last year we had something like 13 retirements.

Just curious. Did these conversations occur before UAL retirement plans turned to garbage?
The best our pilots have so far is 22 years of service for our A plan and a B fund that has been hammered by the stock market. If you run the numbers , unless someone has been extremely fortunate or has a Mil retirement also, going past 60 is a no brainer. The difference in income between working or retiring is ugly.

Bad time to wish for fads. Folks that lurk here and cry, at least w/ a real name on the B&G love these age based in-fights- they'll twist your context to make it a personal attack. Heck, that one guy even may pick up more open time again...

It's the law, the economy is down, market returns especially. The retirement red zone is like -5 years to +10 years around retirement. The 5 year jump to age 65 is almost a no brainer unless folks cashed out in the better market years.

Yes, a long retirement is a good thing. Some claim you live longer by retiring sooner. Just keep the karma positive, please.

Bigger fish are already in the fryer- among them the new names at the bottom of that bid w/ the "F".

another brilliant post from freightpuppy.

you know that they put the >60 next to their names for a reason, right? or did you miss the class about fars and stuff?

Plus it gives an opportunity for someone to be upset, post something in reference to it and drive a wedge between pilots that UPS can use to their advantage. Union Busting 101a
