As far as the stupid pax comments, everybody non-cargo must get them. My response to a sarcastic 'nice landing' after I plant one is, "Nice face!" By the time they realize what I actually said they are just outside the door with a throng shoving them along. Works great at giving me a moment of levity, and usually cracks up the A FA, too!

I left a great passenger airline, this was pre 9/11 for ole brown and haven't looked back. Of course things have changed, but I did day flying for the 1st 9 months of my upgrade to the right seat. Well not quite all day flying. UPS has a great schedule, but it is all seniority based, right, well I was flying with the number one cpt and he told me last month he and his fo both got their first choice, the fo was on the very bottom.
There are other reasons to maybe leave the passenger carriers. If you want to gain weight, then move over to the land of the vampires. You have to really work hard to keep it off.
I was on a Southwest flight a few weeks ago, when the guy in front of me pulled out the magazine, the ROBB REPORT. I had to ask the guy, what are you doing riding on Southwest if you can afford to read that magazine?? He said he didn't buy it, it was left in the seat. So being the resourceful pilot,l I grabbed the magazine after he was through, and they had a great article about the American flyer not willing to pay the extra money for First Class treatment. Just look at Singapore airlines, there is money out there for airline tickets, people just don't want to pay for them, they would rather spend it on the lottery. Or Beer, or I don't know, watching NFL football or Nascar. But god forbid I spend money on an airline ticket!
BTW, I looked like a genius after 9.11 by making my move. Better lucky than smart.
