Is the SAM a "simple" average across all bid packs....or a "weighted" average (based on the # of pilots in that particular seat)?
Given the size of the MEM A300 and 727 fleets....relative to 777 and 757 fleets, it matters.

That probably wasn't discussed. So the company will interpret it however they want to their advantge and then we'll have to make another grievance to get out of 4a2b.

The Feb 23 e-mail from the negotiating committee announcing the settlement described SAM as "the weighted average of all of the regular lines." Whatever the impact of the weighting, it would have played the same with the June SAM, too, and it broke 68 hours.
As for the significant increase in carryover flying into July, I'm kind of confused by what the SIG notes said. Sounds like the CO flying is rolled up into the SAM of the month in which it is flown, so all that CO in the June bidpack will be part of the July SAM. Anybody clear on how that work?

Sig Notes
Those were a bit confusing, but according tot he 09-03 settlement agreement:
Defined Exit from Section 4.A.2.b.
1. If SAM meets or exceeds 68/85 CH for two non-peak consecutive bid periods the minimum bid period guarantee shall return to the normal limits set forth in Section 4.A.1. For purposes of this Settlement Agreement, “non-peak consecutive bid periods” shall include any bid period with the exception of the November and December bid periods. October and January shall be considered consecutive bid periods.
2. If the Company hires a pilot(s) and adds the pilot(s) to the Master Seniority List, other than pursuant to a court order or arbitration award, the Company shall exit Section 4.A.2.b. effective with the Date of Hire.
3. Nothing in this Settlement Agreement shall restrict the ability of the Company to otherwise exit Section 4.A.2.b.
So long as the SAM for JULY exceeds 68 hours....4a2b is gone.
Anybody have a different take on this?
