Default What the SIG tried to say.

As for the significant increase in carryover flying into July, I'm kind of confused by what the SIG notes said. Sounds like the CO flying is rolled up into the SAM of the month in which it is flown, so all that CO in the June bidpack will be part of the July SAM. Anybody clear on how that work?

As a brilliant poster put it in another thread a week ago. In the 727/ F/O bid pack 800+ hours of July flying has been removed from the July bid pack and added to the June bidpack via C/O. Those hours do not count towards June BLG so they are not included in SAM. Since those hours will not be in the July bid pack they will not be part of the SAM formula then either.

To continue with my July 727 bidpack example assuming 130 lines or so July 727 F/O average blg will be reduced by about 6 hours. This could and in all likely hood will keep us in 4A2b longer.

But hey C/O is a right of seniority so the SIG should just shut the heck up, right.

Really? I'm going to guess that's wrong. I would bet that the carryover hours are included in SAM. And, from the SIGs letter...They're counted in the month they started. These guys, the SIG, are on our side you know.

Of course, you sound pretty sure of yourself. And, I'm sure you wouldn't just pull facts out of thin air.

Unless, the SIG is complaining about the use of carryover, because it is not used in SAM. Is that what you're saying?

And what part of my post leads you to insinuate I dont think the SIG is on our side? You do know that the Marines are a great group of fighting men and women dont you?

I dont know what SAM is (I am not sure anybody does untill it is grieved). But I suppose we will see when we come out of 4A2b. Do you dispute my average blg for 727 is down because of C/O? Obviously not since you edited out of your reply.

Yes that is what I think the SIG is trying to say but the lawyers wont let them.

You replied while I was editing. I always like to post. Then read it, see that it doesn't make sense. Edit it, reread it. And, then edit it again until I think it makes sense.

Much like my wife does when she's speaking. Only, she leaves out the editing part..

I edit all the time especially when those darn astericks replace one of my brilliant words and changes the whole meaning of my post.

But the good news, I have 30 hours of C/O so I can have a 120 hour month in July. Woohoo. 4A2b is for junior people.

Default What is and is not included in SAM

SAM does not include carryover. Here are the definitions of SAM

System-wide Average Metric (SAM)
The same credit hour (CH) determination made in Section 25.C.8., as if there were no bid period package published for the applicable group of pilots in a base.

CBA 25.C.8 If no bid period package is published for a crew position due to the absence of known and confirmed flying in such crew position, pilots holding such crew position shall not be awarded lines for the bid period and shall be paid the average scheduled BLG for regular lines, system-wide.

Once again...no carryover included. Company has "gamed" the system again to keep 4.A.2.b alive as long as possible. I'll bet anyone a steak dinner at Ruth's Chris that SAM will be below 85 hours in July.

You would lose that bet. Carryover is over and above what is used to calculate line averages. It doesn't count in the current or the following month.

Thanks Flybynite, one more reason I admire the Marines, I am not sure about busboy though.

I guess its too late to edit that, huh?

Hey, at least I got half of it right... And LAG was correct. The SIG must have been complaining.
