God knows that I don't claim to speak for IPA, but it makes an odd sort of sense. Including the Flight Qualified Supervisors ("FQSs," a/k/a management pilots) doesn't really change anything in day-to-day operations because of the displacement rule. FQSs have always flown the line to the extent necessary to keep their ticket to maintain their position in the company.

What UPS would like to do is furlough junior IPA members and fly the open blocks with FQSs under the Management Emergency Flying provision. I'd love to have that case , but IPA's current legal department doesn't seem to have the stones (metaphorically speaking ) to keep that from happening. Part of that goes way back to 1991 when IPA agreed that it would not try to organize FQSs. Some of those nimrods are still in positions of power at IPA. So the situation is not as simple as it would appear to a rational human being, because it was irrational from the beginning of IPA.

Old Bob is gone...thus far I've been impressed overall by New Bob and TK. If they cut the first guys loose in 9 days I think we'll see even more solidarity on the line and new plans of action put into play shortly thereafter.

Old Bob is, indeed, gone, but nothing seemed to change much the last time he was gone. The fact that he is gone doesn't necessarily mean that his mindset is also gone.

With only a few days left before "F-Day," shouldn't IPA already have its "new plans of action" ready to implement the same day?

You speak as if they don't.

177RG, Ask yourself if you're helping or just venting in another forum anonymously.

I guess you're one that is usually jumping in asking Robert's rules of order type questions tongue in cheek on the beyatch and gripe/B&G.

You have beefs going back to my early high school days, we all get it. You are not on the path to fixing it or running it to ground. It's just 23 year old beef at this point. Please, grab some popcorn and enjoy your seat at the show.

I already have. IPA made a mistake almost twenty years ago. In all likelihood, we wouldn't be talking about MOU, RIF, MEF, or several other problems IPA currently faces if that mistake had been corrected when the opportunity first presented itself. Likewise, problems of this type will continue to arise if the mistake is not corrected.

I'm not venting. Correcting the mistake will affect me only indirectly, if at all. I think that a lot of the underlying conflict about which I read here would be defused by correcting the mistake. In that sense, I'm pretty sure that I'm helping, and that is my intent.

Well, Old Bob is also retired this time. Perhaps that makes a difference. I'm sure they have a plan of action. They can't always show the cards early. I guess we'll know in about a week.

Slice, you are incorrect. The old Bob is still on property and flying the line. Saw and spoke with him last week.

Cheers

Would have sworn I'd read some IPNN about him retiring or about to after he left office... Thanks for the info!
